Why is it so hard to do my work? The challenge of attention residue when switching between work tasks
Leroy S
What it found
After switching away from an unfinished task, part of a person's attention stays with it, and they do worse on the next task. Finishing the first task, under time pressure, left less of this 'attention residue'.
Where the evidence stops
Lab experiments with short tasks.
How it shapes Pursue
Why Pursue suggests one thing and an end point, not a list: closing a loop frees attention for the next one.
A design input, not evidence that Pursue works.
